A unified country is a strong country and it is imperative that the stories of our indigenous people be promoted in our culture. From indigenous leaders, heroes, and folk lore to their customs, art, and history we are lesser as a nation if we don’t weave it as strongly into our national culture as we can.
Bridging the gaps between first Australians and all who have come since should be our top priority in this country. The support is there in the community and now it requires those in power to act. I intend to hold the government accountable to this, pushing education programs and community awareness programs to make all Aussies aware of our rich heritage. We can not be a divided nation or an ashamed nation any more. We must stand together and be proud.
